Did you know that today is National Iced Tea Day? To celebrate, I brewed up some of this iced tea in my Takeya Flash Chill Iced Tea Maker. I really enjoy that it is loose leaf and that it comes in pre-measured pouches. It’s not that hard to measure out teaspoons but let’s face it, I’m lazy and like to take the easy way out whenever I can. Gunpowder green tea is one of my favorite teas whether it is hot or iced. The flavor was light, refreshing and of course, minty. I was happy to find that it didn’t come off as medicinal or artificial. I was worried about infusing this tea with fruit but worked very well with strawberries. I also did an experimental batch infused with cantaloupe and fresh basil that turned out quite well. I need to refill on this tea soon because I’m going to need it once the dog days of summer really get rolling. My only complaint would be that they only come in six pack boxes. My tea maker is the two quart version so that only gives me three pitchers of iced tea. I would definitely purchase a large size package if it were available.
