Tea Places: Alice's Teacup - Chapter I

Alice's Teacup (all three locations) has been on my to do list for a long time. Just recently I had the good fortune of working down the block from Chapter I on West 73rd Street so I made it a point to stop in. The wait for a table was a bit longer than I was able to commit to so I opted for a cup of tea and scone to go instead of eating in. Fall always finds me in a Darjeeling mood so I ordered Margaret's Hope along with a buttermilk scone. The staff was friendly but a bit harried as they had a whole dining room to attend to. I thought that the prices were pretty fair and certainly cost less than a latte and scone from Starbucks.

My scone came with jam and a dollop of cream in a little plastic container. How cool is that! I was headed to the subway but sat in Central Park for a few minutes to enjoy my treats amongst the flowers. Although I wish that I had grabbed some napkins both the tea and scone were delicious. The other flavors that they had available sounded delicious and I'll definitely try to come back soon. Maybe next time I can drag Jason to afternoon tea :)
