    Numi Organic Tea Carrot Curry

Country of Origin: not listed Leaf Appearance: carroty? Ingredients: organic carrot, organic curry, organic cilantro, organic onion, organic ginger, organic tumeric, organic decaf green tea Steep time: 10 minutes, covered Water Temperature: 212 degrees Preparation Method: lidded ceramic teacup Liquor: deep gold Of all of the selections in +Numi Organic Tea‘s Savory Teas line, I was probably the most hesitant to try this one. Spices and I don’t often get along (unless it’s chai, of course) and curry struck me as an awfully strong ingredient. It actually turned out to me the mildest out of the three that I’ve tasted (the others being Tomato Mint and Broccoli Cilantro). Upon first impressions, the mouth-feel was…

    Tomato Mint Tea Scones

Ever since I reviewed the Tomato Mint savory tea from +Numi Organic Tea, I’ve been trying to come up with a way to use it in a recipe. Savory scones seemed like a perfect match. I started with a basic recipe that I found online and then I tweaked it a bit to suit the tea and my own preferences. I used my KitchenAid Stand Mixer with a dough hook attachment but you could also very easily mix this by hand. If you try this recipe, leave me a comment about how it turned out. I’d love to hear what you think! Tomato Mint Tea Scones Ingredients 3 cups of all purpose flour 1/2 cup…

    Numi Organic Tea Tomato Mint

Photo: Numi Organic Tea Country of Origin: not listed Leaf Appearance: small, varied colors, somewhat grainy texture Ingredients: organic tomato, organic onion, organic mint, organic lemon peel, organic parsley, organic cinnamon, organic black pepper, organic decaf black tea, organic allspice Steep time: 10 minutes, covered Water Temperature: 212 degrees Preparation Method: ceramic teacup with lid Liquor: deep brown I am a big fan of +Numi Organic Tea‘s Spinach Chive and have been eagerly waiting for a chance to try the rest of this unique line of savory teas. The tomato mint immediately struck me as even more broth like. It was darker in color and had a strong, spicy aroma. The taste was…

    Numi Organic Tea Spinach Chive

Country of Origin: not listed Leaf Appearance: small, dark green Ingredients: organic spinach leaves, organic chives, organic dried lime, organic dill, organic onion, organic decaf green tea, organic coriander, organic tumeric and organic garlic Steep time: 10 minutes Water Temperature: 212 degrees Preparation Method: ceramic teacup with lid Liquor: deep gold I received a sample of this tea in my goody bag when I attended the New York Coffee and Tea Festival. Numi’s new Savory Tea line has had my intrigued for some time. The flavors are so different from those that you would ordinarily see in tea. The instructions on the filter teabag were also unique in that they state that the…

Numi Organic Tea Flowering Lavender Dream White Tea

Country of Origin: China Leaf Appearance: plump, bright green Ingredients: white tea, lavender blossoms, hibiscus petals Steep time: 5 minutes Water Temperature: 212 degrees Preparation Method: glass teapot Liquor: deep gold This tea was rich yet delicate and very floral. However, it wasn’t a potpourri-like or overly perfumy taste. I loved that I was still able to taste the white tea underneath all of that flower power. The finish was a little dry but not unpleasant. Lavender always relaxes me so this was a great bedtime tea. The blossoms were very tiny and floated loosely so you may want to use a strainer if you don’t want them to wind up in your teacup. I…

Numi Organic Tea Flowering Dragon Lily White Tea

Country of Origin: China Leaf Appearance: bright green with deep orange flowers Ingredients: white tea, osmanthus petals, orange lily blossoms Steep time: 3 minutes Water Temperature: 212 degrees Preparation Method: glass teapot Liquor: gold Flowering teas are a sort of guilty pleasure for me. The taste isn’t always so great but gosh darn it they are pretty! This one had a light apricot taste and a smooth mouthfeel. That flavor likely came from the osmanthus petals. It unfurled fairly quickly but was still elegant and fun to watch. I suggest taking the tea bundle out of the water once it has fully bloomed because this one got bitter fairly quickly. It’s against my…
