5 Things You Might Not Know About Me

If you read this blog, you more than likely already know that I love to drink tea…a lot. A friend pointed out that it might be interesting to let my readers get to know me a bit more, outside of tea. I’ve got to be honest, it actually took me a while to come up with enough things for this post. Tea really does dominate a large part of my life but people are like onions and ogres, we have layers. ☺ I’m a bookworm Long before I discovered tea, reading was something that I have always really enjoyed. I held the class record for Pizza Hut certificates from BOOK IT! and was thrilled…

What Tea and Social Media Means to Me

Last week was spent in Las Vegas at World Tea Expo (you all expect in-depth coverage next week). It’s an event that I look forward to every year, mostly because it’s a time of connecting in person with those who I usually only converse with online. I thought this might be a great opportunity to share my thoughts about what tea and social media mean to me. The topic is particularly timely because I just gave a seminar on this very subject. When I first discovered tea, I was living in a bit of a vacuum. Dorming at a college about forty miles away from home meant that it was just far enough…

Saturday Surprise (Or Why There Wasn’t a Round Up This Week)

Yesterday I realized with a feeling of horror that I had completely forgotten to put together the Friday Round Up. A number of thoughtful folks even tweeted letting me know about my faux paus. I’m generally pretty on top of things but it’s been a crazy week. The April issue of Tea for Me Please Quarterly was my largest edition yet. A lot of late night sessions were spent trying to pull everything together. My work schedule has been pretty hectic lately as well. Life outside of the blog was bit of a whirlwind this week. My boyfriend Jason popped THE question! There was much excitement and celebrating, all of which kept me away…

Is It Possible to Make Money with a Tea Blog?

When I first started my blog way back in 2008, it was a very casual thing that I didn’t really have any plans or intention for. As tea became a bigger part of my life, so has the blog along with it. I still don’t really know what I’m doing or where I’m going but the blog has truly taken on a life of its own. Lately I’ve had a lot of friends, especially those outside of the tea world, asking about whether or not it is possible to make a viable income with a tea blog. I’m sure they have visions of celebrity fashion, food and lifestyle bloggers in their heads. I’m…

    A Year In Tea: 2015

This year has been an exciting one for me. That is probably part of what has made it seem like 2015 flew by. It started off with a bang in January when I launched my quarterly journal. What started as a tiny little email list has ballooned to 700 tea lovers. It has been a lot of work but each issue is truly a labor of love. I’ve been incredibly blessed to have some of the best in the biz contribute articles. I had the opportunity to help Lucy from Silver Needle Tea Co. at NY Now. I was invited to a matcha meditation at the Shinnyo Center and served tea at the…

How I Keep My House Smelling Like Tea

There is nothing quite like the smell of tea and I love filling my home with it. Much to my boyfriend’s chagrin, it’s something that I’ve experimenting with a lot lately. Is there a way that you use tea around your home? Let me know about it in the comments! Dry Leaves Deodorizer I wind up with A LOT of used tea leaves on a daily basis. Without the capability to compost them, I always felt like I was wasting them. That is, until I started using them as a deodorizer. Tea is really absorbent of odor so it works well for this. All you need to do is dry out the leaves.…
