    KEDOÇAY Big Red Robe

Country of Origin: China Leaf Appearance: small, dark and twisted Ingredients: oolong tea Steep time: 3 minutes Water Temperature: 195 degrees Preparation Method: porcelain infuser mug Liquor: deep reddish brown Thank goodness for Google Translate! Even though +KEDOÇAY is Turkish I’m still able to read their brewing directions and tea descriptions. The instructions for this tea were for a western style brew. When brewing it that way the result was smooth and roasty but a bit thin. I then tried it in my gaiwan which was somewhat better but I felt that I should have used more leaf. It’s rare that I try brewing a tea this many different ways but I had a nagging feeling…

    KEDOÇAY Dragon Well Green Tea

Country of Origin: China Leaf Appearance: deep green, flat Ingredients: green tea Steep time: 30 seconds Water Temperature: 175 degrees Preparation Method: glass gaiwan Liquor: pale green We tend to mostly familiar with US or Asian based operations but there are tea companies all over the world. +KEDOÇAY is a retailer based in Turkey. Having reviewed a few of their selections, I’ve found them to be good quality and very well priced. This Dragonwell is a great example of that. KEDOÇAY Milan Dancong

Country of Origin: China Leaf Appearance: long, dark and somewhat twisted Ingredients: oolong tea Steep time: 30 seconds Water Temperature: 195 degrees Preparation Method: porcelain gaiwan Liquor: deep amber This is the second tea that I’ve reviewed from the Turkish tea company +KEDOÇAY. Their website isn’t in English but thanks to the power of Google Translate I am able to understand their product listings pretty well. This is a highly oxidized oolongs and just happens to be one of my favorite varieties of tea. The taste was complex and roasty with sweet notes of honey and a strong floral finish. The mouth-feel was smooth and there was very little astringency. Multiple steepings abound with…

    KEDOÇAY Bai Mu Dan

Country of Origin: China Leaf Appearance: varied mix of silvery buds and darker leaves Ingredients: white tea Steep time: 3 minutes Water Temperature: 185 degrees Preparation Method: glass teapot Liquor: pale gold I receive samples of tea from all over the world (much to the bewilderment of my local post office) but I believe that this was the first time I’ve received anything from Turkey. I was really excited to try some teas from this company, especially after reading Jen’s review of some of their teas on An International Tea Moment. There was a large amount of silvery buds in the dry leaves and while steeping I saw able to see the tiny…
