Metropolitan Tea Company Boston Tea Party Earl Grey

Country of Origin: Sri Lanka
Leaf Appearance: small, dark
Ingredients: black tea, natural flavor
Steep time: 5 minutes
Water Temperature: 212 degrees
Preparation Method: porcelain teacup
Liquor: dark reddish brown

My friends picked me up a box of this tea on a trip to Boston a few months ago. Thank you Paul and Ashleigh! Do they know me or what? It came in a colorful commemorative Boston Tea Party box that had lots of historical facts printed on it. Although this tea was bagged, the leaves were fairly high quality and i really liked that the paper was unbleached. The taste was earthy with a refreshing astringency and just the right amount of bergamot. It certainly could stand up to milk and sugar but I didn’t feel the need for either. Earl Grey has a lot of fans but its actually one of my least favorite types of tea. If I find it drinkable, that says a lot! Metropolitan Tea Company is a wholesaler that does not sell direct so I’ve linked to the Steepster page for this tea instead of the usual product page.

You can find out more about this tea here.
