Celebrating 16 Years of Tea for Me Please

Celebrating 16 Years of Tea for Me Please

I don’t normally post on Sundays, but today is a very special day. Sixteen years ago on October 6th of 2008, I started a little space on the internet called ‘Tea for Me Please’. Last year’s post was more of a retrospective, but this year has me feeling a bit more emotional.

I was on the verge of turning 25 when I first started the blog. That was a few years before I even met my husband. I had recently left college without finishing a degree and I was feeling a bit directionless. My growing interest in tea would eventually turn into a hobby, a much-needed creative outlet, and more than I could have ever imagined.

2009

I am an introvert by nature, but tea became a means of connection online and in person. Before I knew it I regularly met with people from Twitter for tea in New York City. I forged bonds with fellow tea bloggers that I still treasure to this day. Industry heroes that I looked up to became friends and mentors. I have traveled to new places, won awards, and written my first book. And yet there is still so much that I want to do.

I can’t quite find the words to express it, but tea has given me more than I could ever have imagined. I hope my work here will help pay some of that forward. This year I’ll be turning 41. Life is more complicated than it was 16 years ago, but tea remains a constant. It is my passion and my purpose. Thank you to tea and everyone who it has brought into my life!

Whether you’re new here or a long-time reader, thank you for coming on this journey with me. I cannot believe how far tea has taken me and I am excited to see what the future holds.
