    Confessions of a Teaware Hoarder

When starting any hobby I find that we all tend to indiscriminately collect anything and everything related to our new passion. I’ve been through this phase in the past with other hobbies (such as collecting Breyer model horses when I was young) but nothing could have prepared me for the overwhelming miasma of stuff that the tea world has to offer. Teapots, teacups, gaiwans, books, and gadgets; if it was related to tea I just had to have it. After a while, I actually ran out of room to store and display everything. A normal person might have said, “Enough is enough.”. I, on the other hand, went to Target and simply bought…

Making Matcha with the Sharp Tea-Ceré

Last year I did a podcast episode on the Sharp Tea-Ceré, a nifty machine that lets consumers grind matcha in the comfort of their own home. It serves two purposes in a relatively small footprint. The right side of the machine features ceramic disks that can turn tea leaves into either a course or fine powder. The left side has a built in frother that is fed by a four cup water reservoir on the back of the unit. I’m a traditionalist when it comes to making matcha so most often I hand whisk it with a traditional bamboo chasen. However, there are times when I crave a green tea late and the Tea-Ceré is perfect for…

Podcast Episode 22: What are Tea Pets?

As I’m sure regular readers will already know, I’m just a LITTLE obsessed with tea pets. My menagerie is always growing, whether it’s an impulse buy or the generosity of friends. I’ve counted twelve all together and I’m sure that won’t be the end of it either. I thought it might be fun to do a podcast episode explaining what tea pets are for those who haven’t yet been bitten by the bug. Do you have tea pets? Let me know what kind you have in the comments! Even if you regularly watch episodes here on the blog, I’d really appreciate it if you could subscribe directly on YouTube! I’m trying to grow…

Podcast Episode 20: Product Review – Sharp Tea-Ceré

One of my favorite finds at World Tea Expo last year was the Sharp Tea-Ceré. My fellow tea bloggers and I were all drooling over its sleek design and unique functions. It’s only fitting that I share my review of it as today will be spent packing for this year’s WTE. Although I’m not lucky enough to own one (yet!), the kind folks at Sharp offered to loan me one for a month so that I could play around with it and share my experience with all of you. This is the first product review that I’ve done on the podcast but I thought that the Tea-Ceré was something that would be hard to convey using…

Teforia – Using Technology to Revolutionize Tea Brewing

I have a confession to make. I’ve been keeping a really awesome secret ever since World Tea Expo. The good news is that I can finally share it with all of you. +Teforia is an exciting new tea infusion device that I have been really blown away by. For years the Breville One-Touch Tea Maker has reigned supreme. While I still love my trusty kettle, there is so much technology available today that it is surprising that nothing has topped it until now. Teforia utilizes a proprietary Selective Infusion Process (“SIP”) along with eco-conscious packaging to completely change the way that we approach home tea brewing. Each individual tea package is embedded with RFID…
