The Reason Why Matcha is Healthy
The overemphasis on health benefits in tea is one of my biggest pet peeves, especially when it comes to matcha. Ricardo at My Japanese Green Tea tackled this topic with a no nonsense approach that I really appreciate. Simply put, matcha is so healthy because it is a powder so we are consuming the entire leaf.
Hooty Tea Travels – 2018 Northwest Tea Festival
2018 has really flown by for me. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that it was already time for the Northwest Tea Festival. Char over at Oolong Owl gives us a tour of her experience and a few unusual finds, including sheng puerh honey. This is one event that has been on my wishlist for some time now and her post made me want to go even more.
Tea Interview Morten Menge, organizer of the Berlin Tea Festival
Speaking of tea festivals, this week Tea Chronicles featured an interview with the founder of the Berlin Tea Festival. It sounds like tea culture is certainly on the rise in Germany. I have a lot of admiration for those with the kind of dedication to make an event like this happen as I hope to put together a similar festival in NYC in the future.
Over the years I’ve often found myself frustrated at uses of the word “tea” that refer to anything but my beloved beverage. Geoff from Steep Stories of the Lazy Literatus explored the etymology of the use of the word tea as slang for gossip and/or sharing your truth. His recommendation of spilling the tea, over tea just might be the best solution.
