I had a small security snafu because I forgot that there was a pocket knife in one of the pockets of my backpack. Oops! The TSA owns in now. Flying is not really my thing but I do enjoy the birds eye view of our country, especially the mountainous states like Colorado.
At long last I arrived in Long Beach and grabbed a cab to the beach house where I would be staying. How amazing is this house? Sharing it with a gaggle of fellow tea lovers made it even better. Last year was a bit like the first day of school since I had never met many of these people before but this year felt more like a family reunion. +Elyse Petersen, +Michael Petersen, +Rie Tulali, Tealet, +Jake Kajiyama, +Rajiv Lochan, +Naomi Rosen, +Michael Ortiz and Tico of Jo Jo Tea, +Philip Holmans of +World Tea House, +TJ W of World Tea Podcast, +Natasha N and more made up our motley crew. By pure happenstance +Chris Giddings and +Nicole Schwartz rented the top floor of our house so we added even more tea people to the mix.
I was glad that I arrived a day before expo began so that I was able to settle in and avoid rushing or missing anything important. My panel with +Jen Piccotti, +Geoffrey Norman, and +Jo J was the next day so I tried my best to get a good night sleep despite the butterflies.
Stay tuned the rest of this week for a report of each day of my California adventure.
