I was beyond excited this year because it was my very first World Tea Expo. Flying is not my favorite thing, especially when I have to take the subway to JFK airport. No wonder it’s cheaper to fly out of there! My flight was fairly uneventful other than the fact that I forgot to stash some tea in my purse. I really should have known better but I took a chance and ordered tea while in the air. Come on +JetBlue! I was served not just a teabag but a +Dunkin’ Donuts tea bag. I really wish that airlines would step up their tea service. Even a decent pyramid tea bag would have made my day.
Once I landed in Long Beach I immediately felt like I was in a different world. The sun was shining and the airport was much smaller and nicer than the one in New York. Almost as soon as I landed +Chris Giddings of +Tea-Guy fame tweeted me about grabbing some grub and I was famished. We wound up getting ramen at the Mitsuwa in Torrence, CA. Chris and I had never met in person but we’ve tweeted and skyped plenty. He filled me in on the latest happenings with +Teaity while I stuffed my face. I was thrilled to see they had plenty of tea around. There were also Green tea Kit Kats and green tea Oreos!
There isn’t much else to report from my first day since the show had not started yet. I have an obsession with taking aerial photos when flying so I’ll leave with those. There will be lots to show you the rest of the week though so stay tuned!
