I love all types of tea but I’ve been on a big Darjeeling kick lately. This lovely autumn flush only served to feed the addiction. It was full bodied and earthy with a subtle floral quality. I could also taste a hint of chocolate. I don’t mean to say that it tasted like anything Hershey’s might produce but it had a richness similar to raw cacao. There was a really interesting cooling affect in the aftertaste. It wasn’t quite minty but almost reminded me of a Ricola cough drop. That might not sound very appetizing but trust me, it’s a good thing. It wasn’t bitter but a refreshing astringency kept things brisk and interesting. I was fighting of a bout of bronchitis when I wrote this review and this tea offered some welcome relief. The cooling affect that I had noted was particularly soothing for my sore throat. This is the first tea that I’ve tried from the Sourenee Estate and one that I won’t soon forget.
